Allergen and Food Safety

Please read before you order

We want everyone to be able to enjoy our baking safely. Because we bake a changing range of cookies, cakes and other desserts, any of the ingredients and allergens on this page may be present in, or come into contact with, our products. If you have any food allergy, intolerance or dietary restriction, please contact us before ordering and read this page in full.

Made in a home kitchen

Rocky Bakes products are made in a home kitchen. We use shared equipment, surfaces and storage, and we cannot guarantee that any product is free of any allergen.

The major food allergens

In the United States, nine foods are recognized as major food allergens. Any of them may be used in, or handled alongside, our baking.

EggsCookie doughs, cake batters, egg washes, custards, glazes and frostings.
Wheat (gluten)Wheat flour in nearly everything we bake, plus some mix-ins and cookie or cereal pieces. Oats can also carry gluten from cross-contact.
SoySoy lecithin in chocolate and chips, soybean oil, margarine and some baking mixes and extracts.
PeanutsPeanut butter, peanuts, and candies or chocolates made in facilities that also process peanuts.
Tree nutsAlmonds, pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, cashews, macadamias, and nut flours, butters, pastes and extracts.
SesameSesame seeds, tahini, and some spice blends and mix-ins.
FishNot a typical ingredient in our baking. Some third-party ingredients, such as certain gelatins, may be processed with fish. Ask us if this matters for your order.
ShellfishNot a typical ingredient in our baking. Ask us if this matters for your order.

Other ingredients people may need to avoid

Beyond the major allergens, our recipes may include any of the following. Please tell us about anything you avoid, whether for medical, religious, dietary or personal reasons.

  • Gluten and oats
  • Corn, including cornstarch, corn syrup and other corn-derived ingredients
  • Coconut, in flakes, milk, cream or oil
  • Chocolate, cocoa and caffeine, including coffee and espresso flavors
  • Alcohol, including vanilla extract, rum, bourbon, liqueurs and other flavor extracts
  • Natural and artificial colors, flavors and sprinkles
  • Fresh and dried fruit, berries, citrus, apples and bananas (dried fruit may contain sulfites)
  • Seeds such as poppy, flax, sunflower and pumpkin seeds
  • Spices and seasonings such as cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cardamom, mustard and celery
  • Sweeteners such as sugar, brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, molasses and corn syrup
  • Honey, gelatin and other animal-derived ingredients

Cross-contact

We bake different products with shared mixers, bowls, utensils, pans, ovens, counters and storage. We clean between batches, but we cannot eliminate the risk of allergens transferring from one product to another. Items packed in the same box may touch. Please treat every product as though it may contain any allergen listed on this page.

Dietary labels

Unless we state it in writing for a specific item, please do not assume any product is gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, egg-free, vegan, vegetarian, kosher, halal or suitable for any special diet. Ingredients can change between batches and drops.

How to order safely

  1. Tell us about every allergy and restriction in the notes on the order form, or contact us before you order.
  2. Ask for the ingredient list for any item. We provide it on request.
  3. Wait for our written reply confirming what we can and can’t do for you.
  4. If you are unsure about anything when your order arrives, please don’t eat it. Ask us first.

Custom orders and seasonal items

Cakes, custom orders and seasonal items use different ingredients from our regular menu. Please confirm allergens with us for every order, even if you have ordered a similar item before.

If someone has a reaction

Allergic reactions can be serious. If someone has trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, widespread hives, repeated vomiting or feels faint after eating, use their prescribed epinephrine if they have it and call 911 right away. Then please let us know so we can share ingredient information with medical staff.

Storage, refrigeration and food safety

Products that contain dairy should be refrigerated. Some of our items may contain cream cheese, butter or milk, so please keep them in the refrigerator until you are ready to enjoy them. Don’t leave them at room temperature for more than two hours, or one hour if it is above 90°F.

Items without dairy fillings can be kept in an airtight container at room temperature. If you’re not sure which is which, just ask us. For the best taste, enjoy everything within a few days, and discard anything that looks, smells or tastes off.

Our doughs and batters are not meant to be eaten raw, because raw flour and raw eggs can carry bacteria.

Ingredient and nutrition information

Full ingredient lists, allergen details and nutrition estimates for each recipe are available on request through our contact page. Recipes change, so information may be updated at any time.
